Field Notes on 8 Billion Confusing Mammals
Today I observed humans selecting their "leaders." They put names in coloured boxes. Red box. Blue box. Sometimes yellow.
The leaders do not need to demonstrate competence in habitat management, resource distribution, or cub-rearing. They need only to be good at the box-selection ritual.
Jenkins says this is called "democracy." I asked if it works. He laughed for eleven minutes.
Recommendation: Perhaps let the cubs choose? They seem less confused.
"Mr. Reggie said: 'They are suffering and they don't have to be. Find out why. Fix it.' I said: 'How long do I have?' He said: 'Not long enough. Start anyway.'"
